Hawaiian Beyond Hawaiʻi
Empowering Hawaiian Identity, Honoring Kuleana (Responsibilities), Reconnecting to Roots

Our Mission: Empowering the Hawaiian Diaspora
Our goal is to empower and connect Native Hawaiians in the diaspora by creating inclusive spaces, delivering culturally rooted programs, and offering accessible tools and resources that support mental well-being, heritage reclamation, and collective healing. Through virtual and physical gatherings, educational initiatives, and community collaboration, Hawaiian Diaspora validates each person’s journey, honoring diverse paths shaped by generations, education, economic needs, and the aspiration to reconnect with Hawai’i.
Together, we strengthen a resilient Hawaiian diaspora community united by heritage, belonging, and forging pathways home.

From ʻĀina to App: Reimagining the Ahupuaʻa System for Hawaiians in the Digital Diaspora
In this session, we explore Exchange Avenue, a digital platform inspired by the traditional ahupuaʻa system, designed to restore Indigenous ways of exchange through modern technology. Founder John Kealoha Garcia walks us through how the app works, its roots in Hawaiian values, and how it can empower Hawaiians in the diaspora to practice reciprocity, resource sharing, and community care—even from afar. While originally framed around the ahupuaʻa system itself, this session leaned more into how we can apply its principles in today's digital spaces.
